BIG news for 5th Grade Families!

The PTA is thrilled to announce some very exciting news for our 5th grade families!

Our entire 5th grade class will be going to camp this year!!

Many other elementary schools in Tacoma send their 5th grade classes to 5th Grade Camp every year – and we are happy to say that starting this year, Crescent Heights kids will be joining them!

Our students will go to camp from February 22 – 24, 2016, for three days and two nights of fun at YMCA Camp Seymour’s Outdoor and Environmental Education camp, located on the Olympic Peninsula.  Kids will learn about Birds, Forest Ecology, Marine Science, Sustainability, Wildlife Ecology and more, and participate in fun activities such as a climbing wall, hiking, nature drawing and even a Sasquatch hike!

There is still much planning to do, including fundraising (so that EVERY 5th grader has the opportunity to attend camp), event planning, volunteer applications and more.  Many more details will be coming out in the next few weeks.  If you are interested in working on the new 5th Grade Camp committee, please reach out to the board at crescentheightspta@gmail.com.  We’re looking for both 5th grade AND 4th grade parents to participate in the planning of camp (so that the 4th grade parents are up to speed for next year!)

The PTA has been working for a long time towards this goal of “getting camp for our students”.  A big thanks goes to our Principal, Sean McGeeney, and our 5th grade teachers, for being open to the idea and allowing our students to participate in this amazing trip.

Stay tuned for more details – but celebrate this great news today!!
