Monday, Oct. 26: Teacher waiver day, No School!
We are still looking for photos of veterans for the Veterans’ day assembly. We have had only four families submit anything. Unfortunately, we were not able to save photos from last years slide show – so we really need them submitted again, and if you are new to submitting for the Veterans day assembly, a flyer was sent home with your student last week. Instructions again:
In honor of Veterans’ Day we would like to collect pictures of family members who have served, or are serving, in the United States Military. These pictures will be used in a slideshow for our school. Please send in pictures by October 30th.
The Easiest way to send in pictures is via email to email@example.com, scan or use phone/camera to take a picture of the photo and email to the address that we just provided, placing VETERANS DAY PICTURE as subject line.
If you prefer to send the picture in for us to scan please make sure photo is marked with information to return. If any other questions, please email our wonderful Mrs. Halstead at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 253.571.5525.

Another volunteer opportunity is for popcorn Friday this week (10/30). We REALLY need assistance to make this successful in providing complimentary popcorn for the entire school to go along with the viewing of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory – so we need many hands on deck! We are in need of volunteers to help at admissions, cashier, food and drink tables. This is an annual event put on by the PTA. Children can come in costume (no violent costumes or weapons) and enjoy pizza, pop and snack. There is a live DJ and Dance floor – we hope that you will have the chance to bring the kids by and have a little pre-holiday fun!
Admission is $5.00 and it includes 1 slice of Pizza and your choice of beverage, additional food and beverages sold separately.
5th Grade students will be selling candy and all proceeds will go to help fund this years 5th Grade camp.
Hope to see you there – this Friday, from 6 – 8 PM in the school gym! 😀

REFLECTIONS ART CONTEST IS BACK!
The PTA is excited to be bringing back to Crescent Heights the National PTA art contest called Reflections! Show off your talents!
The theme is “Let Your Imagination Fly…”
The categories are:
**Visual Arts **Dance Choreography **Film Production
**Literature **Music Composition **Photography
The contest begins on October 19th, 2015 and ends on November 13th, 2015. Entries will be judged and some will advance to regional judging. If an entry wins at regionals, it will advance to state. If the entry wins at state, then it will advance to the national level.
An informational letter, general rules and entry form went home last week with your student. Please make sure to read the rules so that your students entry will not be disqualified. We will also have the rules available at school on the bulletin board near the library. Student entries can be turned into the office.

Tuesday, Nov 3rd: 5th Grade Camp Parent Information Meeting from 6 – 7 pm. The PTA invites parents of all 5th grade students to join us for an informative meeting about the upcoming 5th grade camp. Representatives from the YMCA Camp Seymour will be in attendance to give a presentation about camp – showing pictures, discussing the curriculum, sharing about life at camp, and taking questions from parents. The PTA will also discuss the fundraising plan for camp. We encourage at least one parent from every family to join us for this informational meeting.
Tuesday, Nov. 10th: PTA General Membership meeting, 7 PM in the library.
