Crescent Heights, One Book is a program that promotes the entire school reading the same book at the same time! The CHOB Chair works with the school principal and teacher representatives to select an appropriate book that the entire school reads together over the course of a month. The CHOB chair will work with other volunteers to develop a reading schedule, assemblies, and other activities in support of the program.
2016/2017: This year’s book selection was Beverly Cleary’s “The Mouse and the Motorcycle”.
Our play was a huge hit! Check out this link to view the performance of “The Mouse and the Motorcycle”!
The One Book program began Thursday, February 2nd with the book coming home with the your oldest child attending Crescent Heights. Every student received a bookmark with a chapter guide on the back. Enjoy the book as a family! Classroom teachers read the book in class as well and supported the program with additional activities!
We would like to thank the following sponsors, along with our PTA, for bringing this program back to CHE for its 3nd year!
We would also like to thank the following volunteers who helped place labels, sort and distribute the books to teachers. Thank you to parent volunteers Kim Peterson, Jodie Cottrill, Lori Reed and Kimberly Syverson. Also some of our “Junior” board members helped with folding the student letters and sorting books by classroom!
Another huge portion of the program this year was the play that our students put on in March! One of our amazing parent volunteers, Aaron Carpenter, wrote a play to tell the story of Ralph, Keith, Mr. & Mrs. Gridley and more. Several of our students performed in the play on Wednesday, March 1st at 6:00 PM, with an encore performance on Thursday, March 2nd at 9:30 AM.
A program of this magnitude wouldn’t be possible without the support of our sponsors. Please, visit our sponsor’s websites below and support their businesses as a sign of your thanks!
