This week we profile one of our new additions to our teaching team: Heather Day! We are thrilled to have Heather as part of our CHE family. Learn more about Heather by reading her interview here!
What is your name, and what grade/specialty do you teach?
Heather Day, 5th grade
We have four wonderful children, which keeps our household busy. Our daughter, Kylie, is 12 and goes to Meeker, our son, Jacob, is 9 and goes to Browns Point, and twin boys, Alex and Max, are 5 and go to the Northpoint Coop Preschool.
What are your hobbies? What do you love to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, hiking, and yoga. I find all three therapeutic and relaxing.
How long have you been teaching, and how many years at Crescent Heights?
I have been teaching for 18 years. I taught 6 years in Highline School District and the last 12 years in Federal Way School District at Nautilus Elementary (K-8th). I have taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, 3/4/5 multiage, 4/5 multiage, and 3rd/4th looping. This is my first year here at Crescent Heights.
What is the funniest thing a student has ever done in your class?
I once had a wonderful student who could do the BEST impersonations of various people and characters. He was definitely our source of entertainment in the classroom that year.
If you weren’t a teacher, what else would you love to do as your career?Another career that I considered was to work with marine animals. I would also enjoy being an interior designer. The one that I would LOVE to do is to be an imagineer at Disneyland!!!!
Tell us one thing you’d love for the families of Crescent Heights to know about you.
I am an obsessed Disneyland fan. It is my most favorite place to go with my family.
Thanks Heather, and welcome to CHE!
