Teacher Tuesday Profile: Jena Rucks
This week’s Teacher Tuesday profile is featuring our 4th Grade teacher, Jena Rucks! (She is also married to our PTA Vice President, Lucas Rucks…what a great commitment from this family to Crescent Heights!) Read more about Jena here:
What is your name, and what grade/specialty do you teach?
Jena Rucks, 4th grade
Tell us a bit about your family. Do you have kids? If so, what ages are they? Do you have pets?
I have been married for 13 years. We have 3 children. Braeden is 9, Landen is 7, and Cambria is 4. My boys attend CHE (fourth grade and first grade) and my daughter is in preschool.
What are your hobbies? What do you love to do outside of work?
Our family loves the outdoors. Hiking, camping, fishing, etc. Washington’s amazing natural beauty is actually what inspired us to move here. We are from Southern CA and we had to drive hours just to find a decent camping spot or hiking trail that wasn’t 100 degrees.
How long have you been teaching, and how many years at Crescent Heights?
This is my third year with CHE.
If you weren’t a teacher, what else would you love to do as your career?I can’t even imagine not being a teacher. I love what I do so much. It has always been my dream to be a teacher, although, I have secretly imagined life as a park ranger/camp host; You know, the people that live at the campsite and help you with firewood and teach you fun facts about the national park you are visiting at the amphitheater. This just seems like a super relaxing career.
Tell us one thing you’d love for the families of Crescent Heights to know about you.
I love CHE. My oldest son has been attending since Kindergarten. We love the community and all the people in it. We were actually planning on only living here for a short while and moving up to North Seattle. But after almost 5 years, NE Tacoma feels like home and we are having a hard time leaving. Thank you to all the people in our community for being so welcoming and wonderful.
Thank you Jena!
