Teacher Tuesday profile: Joy Broda

This week’s Teacher Tuesday profile is here!  This week we are featuring Joy Broda, who is teaching 3rd grade this year.  Here is Joy’s interview:

What is your name, and what grade/specialty do you teach?  joy
My name is Joy Broda, and I teach 3rd grade.

Tell us a bit about your family.  Do you have kids?  If so, what ages are they?  Do you have pets?
I have 2 children and 5 stepchildren who are all adults.  Between all of them, there are 8, going on 9, beautiful Grandchildren!  I have two potbelly pigs and a 15 year old lab mix.

What are your hobbies?  What do you love to do outside of work?
I love to spend time with my pets snuggling and playing.  I also enjoy painting and anything crafty.

How long have you been teaching, and how many years at Crescent Heights?
This is my 26th year teaching!  I have been at CHE since we opened in 1999.  This should be our 18th year at CHE!

What is the funniest thing a student has ever done in your class?
This year….it was great!  It was sharing time for our STAR STUDENT and she was telling the class about her cat that had a clawing problem, and how they had to give her away.  The class broke out in song about kitties….(never heard it before, but it was sure funny!)

If you weren’t a teacher, what else would you love to do as your career?
Own a pig sanctuary and rescue unwanted and abused pet pigs.

Tell us one thing you’d love for the families of Crescent Heights to know about you.
I love teaching children.  It is my passion.  I helped my mom teach in her pre-school during school breaks from the time I was in 4th grade.

Thank you Joy!
