Teacher Tuesday Profile: Lynn Clapp
This week we are featuring our 1st grade teacher, Lynn Clapp! Here is more about Lynn:
What is your name, and what grade/specialty do you teach?
Lynn Clapp – 1st Grade.
Tell us a bit about your family. Do you have kids? If so, what ages are they? Do you have pets?
I have 3 kids. Noah is about to turn 16! Dylan is 14 and Joelle is a 4th grader here at CHE and is 10. I am married to our 5th grade teacher MR. Clapp (in case you didn’t realize that. Funny how many don’t). We have a golden retriever named Nugget and two cats, Zoe and Boots. We adopted Boots from Mrs. Craig when she fostered kittens when Noah was in her class in Kindergarten.
What are your hobbies? What do you love to do outside of work?
Outside of work you can often find me at a softball/baseball field as I coach two fast pitch softball teams. I am also the Soundview Little league president. I also love to read and go for walks in my spare time. I love my summer trips with my family to Wisconsin. We drive there every summer and spend 2 – 3 weeks there fishing, hanging out with family, and enjoying the slow pace.
How long have you been teaching, and how many years at Crescent Heights?
I have been teaching for 21 years and have been at CHE since it opened. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades. I have spent the most time in 1st grade.
If you weren’t a teacher, what else would you love to do as your career?
I don’t know what other job I would want if I wasn’t a teacher. Although I did get my Bachelor’s degree in accounting….but I’d much rather work with children!
Tell us one thing you’d love for the families of Crescent Heights to know about you.
I am super lucky to get to be a teacher at CHE…and for so long! The kids, families, and other teachers are fantastic.
