Did you know that Crescent Heights has a variety of support services for our students? This week we profile Missy O’Neill, who is our Occupational Therapist! Here’s Missy’s interview:
What is your name, and what grade/specialty do you teach?
Missy O’Neill – Occupational Therapist – PS through 8th grade
Tell us a bit about your family. Do you have kids? If so, what ages are they? Do you have pets?
My son Jay is a 6th grader at Meeker. We have a dog Shasta, a cat Rudy, and frogs and fish (Jay’s) 🙂
What are your hobbies? What do you love to do outside of work?
Watching my son play sports
Social time with friends
Beading – necklaces
Playing sports and watching sports games
Concerts – mostly country music
I’m also attending school for Master’s in Psychology and BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst)
What is the funniest thing a student has ever done in your class?
Farted and Burped at the same time. 🙂
If you weren’t a teacher, what else would you love to do as your career?
I admire teachers and am in awe of what they do. I’m like the aunt that can sugar up the kids and send them back to their parents since I get to “play” with them and only see them 1 time/week.
When I complete my schooling, I want to work as a Behavior Specialist and help the kiddos who have challenging behaviors.
I’ve also always had an interest to be a lawyer, surgeon, or investigator….and an awesome drummer and rock climber on the side
Tell us one thing you’d love for the families of Crescent Heights to know about you.
I’m a hugger and think hugs are an important part of life! 🙂
“In order for children to learn how to do hard things, you have to let them go through hard times. There is no way to truly master something without experiencing it.” ~Sara Bean M.Ed.
