This week’s Teacher Tuesday is about our fabulous “Kinder” teacher, Tamra Sharp. Learn more about Tamra here:
What is your name, and what grade/speciality do you teach?
Tamra Sharp, Kindergarten.
Tell us a bit about your family. Do you have kids? If so, what ages are they? Do you have pets?
I have three wonderful kids: Casey, Kaitlyn and Nicholas. They are all attending different colleges. I have three pets: Tucker, the dog, and Sam and Daphne the cats.
What are your hobbies? What do you love to do outside of work?
Getting together with friends and family and playing games is one of my favorite things to do. I love being outdoors, either running or biking. I enjoy reading, cooking, doing jigsaw puzzles or watching The Voice. I am a live theater junkie!
How long have you been teaching, and how many years at Crescent Heights?
This is my 12th year teaching and I love my job! I have been here in Kindergarten for all 12 years.
What is the funniest thing a student has ever done in your class?
My new favorite funny student story didn’t happen at school. I was out walking Tucker when I ran into one of my students and his dad. While I was visiting with the dad, I told my Kinder he could pet Tucker. When he was done, he looked up at me and said, “Mrs. Sharp has a dog named Tucker!” I told him that I was Mrs. Sharp, and this is Tucker. He clearly didn’t believe me. Now I know all I need to be in disguise is a baseball hat and a sweatshirt!
If you weren’t a teacher, what else would you love to do as your career?
My first career choice was being a mom. I knew I also wanted to be a teacher when I was in high school. If I hadn’t gone into teaching, I would have been a veterinarian. I love animals and think how systems work is fascinating.
Tell us one thing you’d love for the families of Crescent Heights to know about you.
I love coming to work every day and forming a school family each year with my kinders and their families. I appreciate how lucky I am to love the work I do and the people I work with and for.
