Message from the Presidents

Husky Families, summer is almost here!

As we make it down the home stretch of school days and the ABC count down… we look forward into next year and are grateful for our wonderful little community here at Crescent Heights.

Things will undoubtably we different in the Fall with the departure of our beloved Mrs. Stephani, and an earlier start time… however the PTA is steadfast and ready to not only sustain our time honored traditional activities, but is here to embrace the changes as growth opportunities and propel our school to the next level of inclusivity.

If you chose to participate in any of our PTA sponsored events this year, thank you for your support! Thank you to the dedicated volunteers who add fun and flare to our PTA initiatives, we could not function without you! If you are interested in getting involved next year in bite sized or big ways we would love it, and will be looking for room parents and additional volunteers over the summer. Please reach out if you have interest in getting involved.

We are still searching for a Vice President to join the executive team for next school year. Details about nominees and recruitment can be found on our website, https://www.chepta.org/boardnominations. Elections for our executive team will take place at our final PTA meeting of the year on Tuesday June 11th at 7:00PM via Zoom. We will also reveal this year's Golden Acorn Award winner at this meeting.

Message from the Principal

Husky Adults,

As the school year officially comes to an end and I begin my “lasts” with our Husky Community, I hope you know that I am honored to have served as your child’s principal for the past six years.

It wasn’t an easy decision for me to leave Crescent Heights because I love so much about the school, community, spending time with your family and was hoping to watch our Huskies grow for many years to come. For me, your children are the best part of CHE and made each day exciting and fun! I have loved spending time together learning, growing relationships, laughing, learning from our mistakes, and working together to make Crescent Heights a safe and fabulous place for everyone.

I have many wonderful memories of my time as a Husky, and thank you for allowing your child to join me for smiles, fun, dance parties, lunch bunches, giggles, after-school groups, art parties, principal of the day, birthday photos, hugs, slime and water splash, music concerts, spirit days, more hugs, and much, much more!

I hope you and your family will join me on Friday, June 14th, from 6 to 7 for our final Popsicles with the Principal. We’ll have opportunities for photos, hugs, and final goodbyes.

With Respect and the Hope of Continued Relationships,

Cassandra Stephani
Continuing to be Proud to have been CHE’s Principal for six years

Call for Golden Acorn Award Nominations

The PTA is asking for nominations for this year's Golden Acorn Award. The Golden Acorn Award is presented to a school or community volunteer in recognition of their dedication and service to children and youth. Since the beginning of this program in the 1930s, more than 54,000 Golden Acorn Awards have been presented to volunteers throughout Washington state.

Our Golden Acorn award winners are memorialized with their name on a plaque inside near the front door of our school. Who should win this year?

Tacoma Rainiers logo
CHE Night at the Tacoma Rainiers

Your Husky student should have brought home tickets on Friday for the Tacoma Rainiers game on June 7th at 7pm. If you forgot to buy tickets, you can get them at the stadium, but they will not be in the same section and may not include the same food/hat deal.

We can't wait to see so many families there. Be sure to stay until the end of the game for the fireworks show!

Our final PTA meeting of the year is coming up on Tuesday, June 11th at 7pm. We have a lot to talk about (budget, officer elections, awards), so we hope you can make it. You can join us on Zoom:

Volunteer Appreciation Happy Hour

THANK YOU to all of our amazing, incredible, generous volunteers. The PTA only works because of people like you who give their time and energy to support our school and students.

The PTA invites all of our wonderful volunteers to join us on June 12th, from 5-7pm at North 47 Brewing Company in Browns Point. We'd love to celebrate YOU on a successful year.

Otterpops popsicles
Popsicles with the Principals

We are all heartbroken to lose Mrs. Stephani, our amazing principal. Come join us on June 14th at 6 p.m. to enjoy a free popsicle and say goodbye before the end of the year.

As an added bonus, our new incoming principals, Ronel Balabat and Susan Chandler (principal and assistant principal, respectively), will be joining us! Don't miss your chance to meet and chat with them before the new school year.

Other Updates
Thank You Mrs. Albers and Mrs. Steinman!

Did you know that we also have two amazing staff members retiring this year?

Kim Albers—she is the amazing woman who keeps our office running. She greets you with a friendly voice when you call, helps you figure out enrollment, and even coordinates field trips.

Rhonda Steinman - she is our librarian and instills a love of books into each of our children. She keeps the library running, supports us during book fairs, and has been a champion of our Books for Birthdays program.

They both will be missed and we wish them well in their retirement. Be sure to say goodbye to them before the end of the year.

Outlines of people running
2024 CHE Marathon

Thank you all who volunteered to help make our annual CHE marathon a success! Here are the stats:

  • 454 participants (!)
  •  3,951 miles ran/logged
  • 109 finishers
  • 7 six-year-finishers
  • 40 volunteers
  • Gave out 968 toe tokens

Congratulate your Husky on their incredible achievement. During lunchtime recesses on Friday, June 7th, there will be a medal/finisher party.

Spring Fundraiser Results are IN!

We got the final results for our obstacle fundraiser last month. The total we get to keep is... drumroll... $15,855! That is an amazing total for our first obstacle course and we are so grateful for your support. The students and staff all had a great time going through the course and cheering each other on.

THANK YOU!
