Message from the PTA President

Happy December, CHE families!

Can you believe it’s already December? As the temperature drops and the kids bundle up, we’re excited about a short school month filled with festive fun! The PTA has been busily working behind the scenes planning future family events and student programs. Here’s a quick look at what we accomplished in November:

  • We had a successful Husky Takeout Night at Red Robin. The fifth graders have been working hard to get their camp trip paid for.
  • Our fantastic Popcorn Friday volunteers popped and filled over 500 bags of popcorn (and they do this every month!).
  • Our amazing Watch D.O.G.S. have been making a big difference by helping in classrooms and during recess. They even lent a hand moving supply boxes around the school!

As we dive into December, get ready for a bunch of spirit days, class parties (thank you to our incredible class reps and volunteers!), and plenty of chances to give back to our community. Amid all the decorating, shopping, and juggling the holiday hustle, let’s not forget to pause and enjoy the joy in our children's eyes as they experience the magic of the season.

Thank you for being such wonderful partners in making our school the best it can be! If you have any questions or just want to chat, please feel free to reach out to the PTA at board@chepta.org or me directly at president@chepta.org. We love hearing from you!

Wishing you and your family a calm, safe, and happy December filled with warmth and joy!

Go Huskies!

Join Us! PTA Membership Drive Happening Now

Our membership drive is taking place now through December 20th. The grade level with the greatest percentage of new memberships before then will get a FREE DRESS bracelet for every student in that grade. The second place grade level will get an extra recess, chaperoned by the PTA. Now is the moment to sign up for, or renew, your PTA membership for the 2024/2025 academic school year!

Simply signing up as a member does not obligate you to volunteer or attend meetings, but it DOES help support the opportunities, programs, and events the PTA hosts throughout the year like the Scholastic Book Fair and Popcorn Fridays. It allows us to support staff through the educator discretionary fund and staff grants. And it helps us build community with special events such as the Harvest Festival and Family Skate Nights.

So what are you waiting for?

Holiday Giving Tree

Hello, Crescent Heights Community!

It is that time of year again where we can come together as a school and bless other families in our husky community. Our annual holiday giving tree is live and the first round of gifts are ready to be shopped for! The tree is virtual again this year, here is the link: www.bit.ly/chetree2024

All items are on an Amazon Wishlist, and will go directly to CHE Students and their families. Gifts are around the $30 and under mark, and we will be monitoring the list daily to replace items that may be out of stock, or jumped up in price.

Our ability to come together as a husky community and spread some joy, in a season where families need it more than ever, is the greatest gift. We can guarantee your thoughtfulness and generosity will bring many smiles to Husky faces. This list is confidential, so feel free to share the list with friends, co-workers or family who may want to give back this season. Just ensure that they select CHE as their shipping option in the system. To ensure enough time for organization and deliveries, we are closing the Amazon Wishlist on Friday, December 13th at 4:00pm.

If you’d rather donate cash/venmo, that can be arranged as well and would be used to purchase any leftover gifts, or wrapping paper. Please connect with our school counselor if you have any questions, or if your family could benefit from this resource.

Yearbook Cover Design Contest Happening Now!

All Crescent Heights students are invited to submit art that could make it to the front cover of our yearbook!

Entries must adhere to all of the rules in the attached flier (and coming home in folders) to be considered and submit your artwork on an 8.5 X 11 to Miss Smith by Friday, December 13.

Reflections Art Contest!

One month until our submission deadline for the Reflections art contest! This is a nationwide contest that begins with a contest within our school. The winner will then move to the Washington State PTA art contest. If chosen, a national contest will follow. Visit chepta.org/reflections for more information and for a link to the contest entry form. Submit your physical entry to the front office (entries will be saved for collection at the mailbox) along with your completed entry form to ensure they are received by the PTA. Electronic submissions or questions may be sent to reflections@chepta.org

This year's theme is "Accepting Imperfection" and the contest submission deadline is Monday December 16th

Calling all December birthdays!

Does your student have a November or December birthday? Or do you just want to do something good for the school? Think about donating a book to our school library in your student's honor! Your student will be recognized by a PTA member who will read the book to their class, your student's name will be stamped inside the front of the book, a photo of your student will be placed on our bulletin board in the upper hallway and they will take a bookmark home!  Visit chepta.org/books_for_birthdays to purchase one of the books off of our approved wish lists. A book is a wonderful gift to give.

Caitlin Nieburg is always happy to answer questions! Just email booksforbirthdays@chepta.org for more information or with questions.

5th Grade Camp Update

Every February we send our 5th graders to Camp Seymour for two nights of fun and learning. Camp costs can add up, so our students do a variety of fundraisers. Our goal is to send every 5th grader that wants to go, regardless of their family income.

So how much have the 5th graders raised so far? Including our most recent Husky Takeout Night fundraiser (earning $364.89) and winning the Candy Buy-Back challenge for bringing in the most candy for White Smiles Orthodontics (earning $500) we have brought in a whopping $6011.89!

Look for Brown Bear Car Wash ticket sales this month. Want to help make camp a reality? You can donate directly to the 5th grade camp fund here: https://tinyurl.com/CHE-5th-Grade-Camp-Donation
