PTA PRESIDENT
Time Commitment: approximately 10-15 hours per month
Busiest Times of Year: Busiest in the summer, and at the beginning of the year, but then flattens out. In April, it gets busy again through June. Additional special projects as desired.
- Manage overall objectives, goal, and strategies of the PTA
- Act as liaison between parents and principal
- Coordinate board planning sessions
- Assist in the recruiting for needed PTA Committee Chairs
- Create agenda and facilitate monthly PTA board meetings (if needed)
- Create agenda and facilitate the 4 PTA general membership meetings
- Collaborate with Principal to create school/PTA events calendar
- Collaborate with PTA Treasurer and PTA Vice President to create PTA annual budget, financial review schedule and designate a member to complete monthly bank statement review
- Maintain accountability of PTA storage locker and drop box keys
- Attend (or designate someone else to attend) quarterly Superintendent Breakfast events
- Attend (or designate an alternate exec board member to attend) monthly CORE Team meetings
- Attend Tacoma Council PTA meetings when possible (consortium of the PTA Presidents from all Tacoma Public schools)
- Ensure PTA is in compliance with WSPTA requirements
- Key speaker for PTA talking point events such as New Family Tour (during Kindergarten Jump Start), Back to School Night, etc.
